F.A.Q.s

Some of our most frequently asked....

I’m feeling very overwhelmed and anxious at the thought of having to wear a wig or topper for my hairloss. What can I expect when I come to see you?

Firstly, know that everyone feels some level of anxiety coming to see us.  People say we allay that anxiety almost immediately, - we hope so.

Our consultation is often like a chat between friends - sharing information, often reserved for the very best of friends.

We discuss the reason for your hairloss - what you are currently experiencing and how you are feeling as a result.  We discuss the best way forward for you in relation to the individual solution that is right for you and then we try on a variety of products.

In amongst the chat,  we often have some tears and just as often we enjoy some laughter - most of the time our clients walk out relieved and positive that at last they know that there is a solution that is right for them.

Do I need to make an appointment & what is the fee for your consultation?

We provide an in depth, private consultation for you which generally takes around an hour.  We talk about your hairloss, your journey and explore alternative hair systems that are appropriate for your needs.

You can book a consultation through the website or by phoning.

Our consultation is currently complimentary.

How much do wigs and toppers cost?

The investment you make will be dependant upon the best possible solution for your individual needs.

There are many variables such as your preference for human hair or synthetic, management and maintenance ability of each type of fibre, the size and type of base in the piece and sometimes length and density of hair are factors.

Synthetic wigs and toppers typically average $700 and for human hair, the average cost of toppers is $2,500 and for wigs, $3,500.

For bonded systems we use human hair and prices depend on what is needed.

Will I need a Wig or a Topper?

During our consultation we will discuss whether your most appropriate hairloss solution is a wig or some type of topper.

People with significant hairloss (typically those going through Chemo or Alopecia) will require a full wig whereas people with patches or thinning may require either a clip in or bonded topper.  Which type of topper depends on how much hair is remaining as well as your lifestyle.

Will others know that I’m wearing a wig?

Tammy Lobato Wigs only stock the most realistic and natural looking wigs – the wigs that Tammy would be happy to wear herself, she refuses to stock the wigs that look like wigs.

Most of Tammy’s wigs are constructed with InvisiLace which provide the most realistic appearance creating a natural hairline and scalp effect not found in other wigs.

Are wigs uncomfortable?

Many wigs can be uncomfortable and unsecure, Tammy has endured many of them. Tammy’s SmartLace and Mono Top wigs are made with the highest construction methods deliberately to create comfort from the smooth and silky surface inside the cap.

The fine welded lace front will conform to the shape of your head allowing for maximum styling versatility and the most secure fit available.

Is there any finance available to buy a wig?

Yes we offer Buy Now Pay Later options including Afterpay, Zip Money and Humm to eligible clients to allow you to pay in installments after you have bought the product with interest free terms. Also we have our own interest free layby payment plan.

Am I able to layby human hair wigs?

I've heard that synthetic wigs are better and easier to look after than human hair, is this true?

The answer to this question depends upon the age and the lifestyle of the client.  Tammy Lobato is nearly 50 - for the last ten years she has been wearing human hair wigs and plans to continue. For her they are the closest thing to having her own hair - the human hair behaving like human hair.  For younger clients as well as middle aged clients who are very attached to their own hair and its quality, human hair wigs will nearly always be best for them because of the quality of the fibre.

For clients over 70 of which many choose to wear their hair fairly short, synthetic wigs are perfect.

The main issue with synthetic wigs is the deterioration of quality of fibre that leads to frizzing and matting as a result of rubbing on your clothes or car seats etc. - therefore the shorter they are, the better they are maintained.

In terms of frequency of maintenance - we recommend that human hair wigs are washed and styled (blow waved and straightened) every 10 - 14 days if they are worn everyday and synthetics washed every two weeks if worn everyday - no styling required unless it is a heat resistant synthetic wig.

So therefore in contrast to some information out there, human hair maintenance is actually less than what is required for biological hair.

What Our Clients Have to Say

I have suffered from hairloss for many years now. After I had chemotherapy my hair never returned to its original texture and density so I was left with very fine and wispy hair that didn’t even cover my scalp. That led to major depression and isolation for me. I got up the courage to try on a wig with Tammy. I started wearing it, was thankful for the volume and started socialising again. But I was still missing the freedom of not having hair on my head at all times. So Tammy suggested that my lifestyle could be improved by having a bonded topper. I tried it and absolutely loved it, now I have hair on all day and night, I shower with my new hair, I swim with my new hair and now I even go away on girls trips, because I’m not embarrassed by my hair anymore. My topper blends in with my fine hair and I can wear it up or down, curl it or straighten it. I no longer focus on my hair and am no longer sad about my appearance. I am confident now which has made me so happy. And I love going to Tammy’s salon every four to six weeks for my bonded topper service which is actually a bit of a pampering session for me. I then walk out with my fresh clean, styled hair ready to catch up with the girls! Tracey Shannon

Thank you Tracey it is wonderful to hear that you have had such a great and liberating experience with our bonded toppers - they really are life changers and I am so pleased your lifestyle has improved because of them. Thanks so much for sharing this to help others. Tammy x

It's hard to find the words to describe how I feel about the team at Tammy Lobato..... They were all such a fantastic support from the moment I met them. Being diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma was such a shock and losing my hair through chemo was awful. Tammy and the team gave me the confidence and ability to be able to continue working, to go to the supermarket and out for social occasions both during and after my treatment. Even the Nurses at Peter Mac couldn't believe it wasn't my real hair! They took the stress out of the maintenance away from me with regular washes and blow drys too. At the worst time, I met the best people and I'm forever grateful.

Cheryl we are all so thankful that you chose us - we understand just how important your wig was to retaining your dignity which actually helped you cope with your chemo journey and continue to participate 'normally'. Your very regular wash and blow drys really helped in keeping your wig so beautifully for the duration of your treatment and post treatment and we all loved having you with us xx

Tammy is an angel on earth. I can’t recommend the services which Tammy provides highly enough. I was made to feel at ease during my first consultation and felt no pressure or obligation to buy a wig. However I did purchase two and have had nothing but amazing comments from friends and family and most importantly they make me feel like me. In particular my human hair wig, people can’t believe it’s a wig. The service is personal and private in a very welcoming environment. I love that you can come back for a wig wash and style by booking in with one of the hair dressers. Special mention to Patricia who made me feel beautiful with the lovely waves she put through my hair during my last visit. For someone going through chemo and loosing your very long hair, this little outting gives you such a lift as it’s just like going to the salon. Thank you Tammy and see you soon.

Danielle your feedback is so generous - I am forever grateful and so pleased you are doing so well x
